A nice stop during your journey for a break for picnicking with an excellent view of the whole of Porto Santo and the Marine centre. Here is also a tourist attraction.
The Windmills
The Porto Santo landscape is enlivened by traditional windmills scattered here and there. Because of its considerable flatness, the island is exposed to very strong winds. The windmills were built to grind cereals for bread. The first one was built in 1794. This was the biggest surviving 18th century construction in the island. But in the years following, the island became dotted with picturesque windmills. Some of them are still working.
