Monte Garden
Also known as Leite Monteiro, this municipal garden is set 550m above sea level and covers an area of 26,000 m2. Stocked with both indigenous and exotic species including century old trees, the gardens have a relaxing and fresh atmosphere. This is in part created by the stream that flows through the gardens and forms a waterfall at the southern end. Shady plane trees surround the Largo da Fonte and the Fonte da Virgem, and the bandstand nearby the park entrance. The marble Fonte da Virgem contains an image of Nossa Senhora do Monte. The park also has a lake with an island at its center in the shape of Madeira Island.

It is also from here the tourist attraction for "Toboggan Sledge" OR "The wickey car" start from,and downward the roads into Funchal. BACK TO BOTANIC
