Photography Museum Vicentes
This is the old studio of Vicente Gomes da Silva, the pioneer of photography in Portugal. The museum keeps objects, cameras and photographic archives including more than 100 years of photographic activity running through four generations of photographers of the Vicente family. It also shows archives by other photographers.

The decision to build the fortress dates back to 1513,and was initilly limited to the Manueline turret.The attack of the French corsairs in 1566 showed the need to reinforce the defensive capabilities of the fortress.Due to the separation of civilian and military powers in 1836 a division of the Fortress-Palace was made,whereby the eastern part was assigned as the headquarters of Military Governor.Palace sâo Laurenço was classified as a National Monument in 1943 and since 1976 it has been the oficcial residence of the Minister of the Republic for the Autonomous Region of Madeira.10 civilian sector are today open "free" for the public .

House of Christopher Columbus Museum in Porto Santo
Comprising two buildings, the oldest of which dates back to the period when the navigator lived here. "Machico-Canical" Museum of the Whale

This museum was opened to the public in 1989. After the death of its owner it passed to the control of the Municipality of Machico. It has a whaling boat, a cachalot whale (made of glass fibre), windows made from whalebone and whale jaws, photography and prints. Located at the old residence of the flemish merchant João Esmeraldo, this complex is dedicated to the artefacts and art objects from the sugar manufacturing and exportation era of the 15th and the 16th centuries.The guiding principle behind the creation of the museological nuclei is related to the idea of recognising the decisive moments in the development of the city of Funchal.The aim is to organise models in the city foor understanding these moments.

Museum Henrique and Francisco Franco
It includes a precious collection of prints, drawings and sculptures by the brothers Henrique and Francisco Franco. These two were artists from Madeira who were important figures on the Portuguese artist scene thanks to their huge and extraordinary body of work. Museum of IBTAM (Embroidery)
This museum exhibits valuable pieces of Madeira embroidery, inlaid wood and tapestry. Embroideries are displayed in several rooms, together with furniture and pieces of clothing. Exhibits a valuable collection on the fauna, flora and geology of the islands. It also sponsors important scientific research activities on the macaronésia region.
